Fall class registration is happening NOW

The Capital Community College Fall 2012 credit-free catalog is available and registrations are now being accepted.

We've expanded our social media and allied health offerings as well as our special interet classes. Want to know how to start looking for your ancesters? We have a one-hour lunch & learn on it.

Ever wished you could take singing lessons or learn the guitar? We have classes for that too. Fashion design? Yes! Culinary arts. You know it! Insurance and financial services? Of course - and so much more!

Plus, we've expanded our on-line class offerings - they number over 200 and can be taken from the comfort of your very own home or office, your favorite coffee shop, your kids' sporting events - even the beach or beautiful northwest hills of Connecticut.

There's sure to be a class to to peak your interest and stimulate your personal curiosity or help with your professional development.

Paving the Way

Capital has some pretty innovative programs. Check out our "Paving the Way" pilot project video. Paving the Way is a learning community where students learn English as a Second Language (ESE) at the same time they earn credits in Early Childhood Education (ECE).

Genealogy

Carol Widmer (pictured right) presented at today's Travelers Employees Club Lunch & Learn. Her topic was genealogy! Carol is a professional genealogist and a member of the board of directors for the Connecticut Historical Society.

Carol also provides geneaology research services through Time Unraveler.

I-Best is a collaborative program between the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, Capital Community College and a number of unions, particularly the Carpenters union here in CT.

Today, nine people graduated from the I-Best program, prepared to work in different aspects of the construction field. They are OSHA certified, CPR & First Aid trained and certified to run a fork lift. And those a just a few of the skills they learned in this pilot training program.

Another local celebrity to come by Capital Community College: Joe D'Ambrosio!  The radio Voice of the Uconn Men's Basketball team, sportscaster for WTIC AM and NBC Connecticut TV personality had lunch with CCCCE's own Carol Vassar-Pettit and intern Mary.  No, the mail truck has nothing to do with it!
